The Great House Antigua is a family run boutique hotel, a 350-year-old estate house on our island. Many of our team have been with the family for decades, and we welcome you to join us in this journey.
Our owner, Janey Henderson-Howell, has a small message
for our guests this April:
The Great House Antigua is a place where all feel at ease and become part of our family.I love the cool trade winds and bird song in the early mornings, the organic meals made with love, the endless warmth and sunshine, the marvellous sunsets from the terrace, the sound of the tree frogs and the crickets in the evenings. I want you to come here, stop for a bit, relax and listen to what the silence has to say. I want you to be eager to return the moment we say goodbye.
I want you to return, walk through the gate and pick up the conversation right where we left it. The Great House Antigua shares its way of life with more and more people looking to escape and find themselves.
April celebrates the month when the Henderson Family purchased the estate and house after living and building Galleon Bay beach and hotel.
As we enter the month of Easter and the end of the high season in Antigua we welcome guests to join us for their Easter breaks, with better rates and more excursion availability across the island.
Some of the team, and past guests, favourites being:
1. Nicole’s Table Cooking Class
Learn how to cook the typical Caribbean cuisine with a flair! Nicole’s Table offers local cooking classes in an eco-friendly home overlooking the Caribbean sea. The 3-4 hour classes are small and hands-on.
2. Indigo Divers
Owned and managed by a group of PADI Scuba Driving professionals with years of experience. Indigo Divers pick up from Jolly harbour and surrounding properties and drive guests to the sheltered west and south coasts, including Cades Reef, which are around 20 minutes away. Special package and night dives can also be arranged.
3. Walks on the island
Either join our in-house ‘botanist’ for local hikes, included in guests stays with us, or a hike further afield to the Pillars of Hercules or Mermaid Gardens.
4. UnderSea Odyssey Tours, An Experience of a Lifetime!
UnderSea Odessey Tour offer experiences tailored to match guest's needs and are exclusive so guests never have to worry about sharing in their experience.
The group heads to Bird Island for a small hike and take in the breath-taking sights there. Guest can then cool down at the beach on that island prior to going out to the Island's channel reefs to explore the underwater world at their leisure. After snorkeling a picnic style lunch break at Maide Island is offered and the UnderSea Odyssey bar is opened throughout the trip. The group then leaves Maide Island and heads along the west coast to find a secluded beach and anchor for a relaxing swim. After the swim the group heads back to dock and our guests are picked up by taxi and returned.
Our low season prices are also being run with a 20% discount for all bookings until the end of 2023.
