RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

The Great House Antigua team are keen to ensure we are building a more sustainable tomorrow for future generations.
As part of this promise to ourselves, our community and our future we practice sustainable tourism.
During our guests stay at The Great House Antigua, they will enjoy some of the best of Antigua's seasonal cuisine with the majority of the ingredients sourced locally on island. We aim to grow 50% of our own produce in our grounds, rising to 80% in the next 3 years.
Antigua was the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to ban single use plastic bags in 2016. In conjunction with this island wide work The Great House Antigua team have fitted water filtration systems onto taps on property. Using three forms of filters which ensure all unwanted substances are removed through the use of reverse osmosis to create clean drinking water. The lack of plastic bottled water contribute to lowering our plastic use and its effects on our oceans and wildlife.
We are also keen to ensure that all our staff and practitioners are from the Caribbean islands, promoting jobs through the islands.
A final part of our sustainable and responsible tourism is training islanders.
We are currently training kitchen, house and garden staff and are keen to ensure we continue this growth.
"We do not inherit Mother Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children."
We look forward to our responsible and sustainable journey with you.
